Former Lifelong Democrat Elon Musk: ‘We Need a Red Wave or America Is Toast’

via The Hill

Billionaire Elon Musk declared that America needs a “red wave” in the 2024 election to avoid catastrophe.

Musk, a former lifelong Democrat, said he voted Democrat until a few years ago but now sees the party as “very bad.”

When asked if he still considers himself liberal, Musk replied that a red wave is needed.

“I voted 100% Dem until a few years ago. Now, I think we need a red wave or America is toast,” Musk wrote.

“I used to consider myself a Democrat. Now, I feel like the Democratic party is very bad, but I still consider myself Liberal. Anyone else?” an X user wrote.

“I just want politicians that actually care about people – not upholding the current system that incentivizes politicians to hold power forever instead of fixing issues. IMO the two party system is the core issue here, and it’s less about voting one party in than the other. Although I agree that the Democratic party has turned mega fringe, but I can’t say that the Republican party is that much better,” they added.

Musk backed Republicans in the 2022 midterms due to feeling the Democrats had become too extreme.

He said a Republican Congress was preferable given Democratic control of the presidency to curb excesses of both parties.

“Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic,” Musk said at the time.

“I’m open to the idea of voting Democrat again in the future,” he added.

A recent poll showed only 24% of independent voters believe Biden will win reelection in 2024, with less than a quarter predicting a Biden win over Trump in a hypothetical matchup.

Trump has also been gaining on Biden in swing states for the next presidential election.
