A recent poll found that a majority of Americans support building a border wall and strongly enforcing immigration laws.
When asked how they would address immigration after three years of Biden’s policies, 58% supported building a border wall.
“When it comes to immigration, one thing is clear: Americans overwhelmingly favor building a border wall and strongly enforcing existing immigration laws,” the pollster wrote. “It’s a big reason why immigration has become the No. 1 issue in the 2024 presidential election.”
“What does this all mean? When you dig in, you see that a solid majority of likely voters are eager to limit illegal immigration across our now-porous borders and that a plurality want those here illegally to be deported,” they wrote.
A plurality of 42% supported building a wall and deporting those here illegally, while another 16% supported a wall but enforcing border laws without mass deportations.
Only 6% supported Biden’s open border policy.
Other polls have found similar levels of support for limiting illegal immigration and deportations.
The analysis argues Democrats are pursuing policies like lax immigration enforcement that could lose them elections in the short term but gain them more permanent Democratic voters over the long run through birthright citizenship and efforts to get illegals and their descendants registered and voting Democrat.
