Zelensky Reveals U.S. and Ukraine ‘Working’ on Scheme for 10 Years of Military Aid

via BBC

Ukrainian President Zelensky revealed that his government and the U.S. are working on a ten-year bilateral security agreement to provide additional monetary aid to Ukraine.

He thanked Congress for approving a $61 billion aid package and emphasized Ukraine’s need for more Patriot missile systems.

Zelensky said teams from both countries are drafting the strongest agreement possible on security cooperation and support levels through 2032, including armed, financial, political and joint weapons production assistance.

“Also, our teams, Ukraine and the United States, are currently working on a bilateral security agreement, and we are already working on a specific text. Our goal is to make this agreement the strongest of all. We are discussing the specific foundations of our security and cooperation,” Zelensky said.

“We are also working on fixing specific levels of support for this year and for the next ten years, including armed support, financial, political, and joint arms production.”

“The agreement should be truly exemplary and reflect the strength of American leadership. I am grateful to both our team and the team of the American side for the progress in drafting the agreement,” he said.

On top of $61 billion approved by the U.S., UK Prime Minister Sunak also pledged an additional £500 million in foreign aid for Ukraine.

Secretary of Defense Austin recently announced more Patriot systems would be sent as part of a new $6 billion aid package.
