Jamie Raskin Gets Rough Legal News

via Dartmouth

Anthony Bobulinski, a former business associate of the Biden family, has sued Congressman Jamie Raskin for defamation.

Bobulinski claims Raskin made false statements accusing him of being a “Chinese or Russian spy” or pawn of the Trump campaign.

The lawsuit stems from comments Raskin made on social media and TV dismissing the credibility of witnesses like Bobulinski.

It seeks $20 million in damages.

During a March congressional hearing, Bobulinski delivered scathing criticism of Raskin and other Democrats, accusing them of lying about the Biden family’s business dealings.

Bobulinski has alleged he has evidence that Joe Biden was involved in his son Hunter’s business ventures with foreign entities, despite Biden’s denials.

“They continue to lie directly to the American people without hesitation and remorse,” Bobulinski said. “Rep. Dan Goldman and Jamie Raskin, both lawyers, and Mr. Goldman, a former prosecutor with the SDNY from New York, will continue to lie today in this hearing and then go straight to the media to tell more lies.”

Bobulinski added, “Hunter Biden’s defense attorney, Abbe Lowell, weaponizes letters to Congress to try to smear my name and make the cold hard facts in an attempt to save his powerfully connected client and his father. I challenged Mr. Lowell to make those claims on national television so he can be held accountable for his lies.”

The case could test legal protections for public officials’ speech.

It comes amid political tensions over allegations regarding the Biden family’s overseas business activities.
