Ukraine’s Zelensky ‘Personally’ Thanks Mike Johnson for $61 Billion Gift from U.S. Taxpayers

via NBC

Ukraine President Zelensky expressed gratitude to Speaker Mike Johnson for shepherding a $61 billion Ukraine aid package through the House, saying the decision kept history on the right track.

Democrats were seen cheering and waving Ukrainian flags as the bill passed.

Zelensky said the vital US aid will save lives and strengthen both nations.

“I am grateful to the United States House of Representatives, both parties, and personally Speaker Mike Johnson for the decision that keeps history on the right track,” Zelensky wrote.

He added, “The vital U.S. aid bill passed today by the House will keep the war from expanding, save thousands and thousands of lives, and help both of our nations to become stronger.”

However, the Mike Johnson of a few months ago would have disputed this, as he previously opposed advancing foreign aid without securing the US border first.

But intense pressure from Zelensky, who charmed Johnson during a meeting, and the White House proved successful in cementing Johnson’s remarkable reversal.

“Thank you, America!” Zelensky said.
