Grammy-Winner Lizzo Clarifies She’s Not Quitting Music Industry

via E News

Pop star Lizzo posted a cryptic “I quit” message on Instagram last week, stating she was tired of being “dragged” online and in her personal life.

She has since clarified that she did not actually quit her career, but rather quit giving attention to negative energy and voices.

“When I say ‘I quit’, I mean I quit giving any negative energy attention,” Lizzo said.

Lizzo is known for promoting body positivity but has faced accusations, including of fat-shaming one of her dancers and sexual harassment by former dancers in a lawsuit.

In a new video, Lizzo said she would not quit making music and connecting with fans, as that brings her joy, and she recognized she is not alone in experiencing louder negative thoughts.

“What I’m not gonna quit is the joy of my life, which is making music, which is connecting to people, because I know I’m not alone,” she said.

“In no way shape or form am I the only person who is experiencing that negative voice that seems to be louder than the positive.”

The clarification ensures Lizzo has not retired, having seemingly laid claim to the briefest entertainment career retirement in history with her initial ambiguous social media post.
