Trump Commended for Graceful Gesture Following NYC Tragedy

via Sky News

Reports indicate Donald Trump will attend the wake of fallen NYPD officer Jonathan Diller, who was fatally shot during a traffic stop in Queens, New York.

Trump’s spokesperson relayed his sentiments over the officer’s “senseless and tragic death.”

“President Trump is moved by the invitation to join NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller’s family and colleagues as they deal with his senseless and tragic death,” Trump spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated.

Diller, 31, was a respected three-year veteran of the NYPD who made over 70 arrests.

He leaves behind a wife and young son.

Trump, a vocal supporter of law enforcement, has criticized movements to defund police and advocated for tougher penalties against criminals during his presidency.

His presence at Diller’s wake on Long Island is expected to draw attention, as the former president positions himself as a strong ally of law enforcement agencies.

The White House press secretary commented on the tragedy, citing the toll of gun violence.

“This shooting is yet another painful reminder of the toll of gun violence, what it’s doing to inflict on families and our communities and our nation, communities, and our nation,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. “And that’s why the President signed more than two dozen executive actions.”
