CNN Analyst Grimly Explains Why Fani Willis’ Case Is Essentially Over

Analysts are increasingly predicting the collapse of the Georgia case against Donald Trump.

Jeffrey Toobin, after being suspended for masturbating on a work call, said the likely perjury of Fani Willis regarding her relationship with a subordinate paid $700k on the case could end her career.

A judge ordered Willis to recuse or dismiss her subordinate, hampering the case.

“Today was a very good day for Donald Trump,” Toobin said.

“This case is going nowhere. Even if in the extremely unlikely event that this somehow staggers to trial in August or in the fall, think about this: There’s another racketeering case in Georgia where jury selection — not the trial — jury selection has taken a year. This case is never going to trial before the election.”

Toobin called Willis’ handling an “embarrassment” and said the case is “going nowhere very quickly.”

Fellow analyst Elie Honig agreed delays have damaged Willis beyond her relationship.

“Fani Willis has hung on, but this case is going nowhere very quickly,” Toobin said.

The subordinate resigned, prompting Willis to praise his “professionalism” amid attacks.

Further delays in Trump’s other cases narrow Willis’ window, and if Trump wins in 2024, he would likely dismiss all cases against him.

“I compliment you for the professionalism and dignity you have shown over the last 865 days, as you have endured threats against you and your family, as well as unjustified attacks in the media and in court on your reputation as a lawyer,” Willis said.
